THE STORY

This loving pair spanned across cities and traditions, a couple that bloomed in Chicago and grew to explore the world together. As aspirational as their travels, this local love held a wedding across five separate events. The weekend included a Hindu ceremony, luncheon, Christian ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception. With Kelsey’s experience working in the events industry, they knew the KEHOE DESIGNS team well. They rushed to The Geraghty, our all-inclusive venue, necessary for an entire weekend of wedding arrangements. As Kelsey said herself, “The venue was made for a wedding like ours – your team embraced the puzzle pieces and was excited to execute. We used every inch of the usable space to give our guests the ultimate experience and no deja vu of being in the same venue for all of our events.” The wedding reflected many sides of their relationship with a space to embody their traditions, travels, and spirit. The celebration contained a Baraat (Hindu) wedding tradition and a Black-Tie ceremony. The versatility of this couple paired beautifully with the uniqueness of the venue.

DÉCOR INSTALLATION

The Geraghty was set up to inspire. Beginning with the Baraat, the groom entered the venue atop an opulent car, complementing the bold pinks and purples of the gulal — a colorful powder used in Hindu rituals thrown into the air. Following was the ceremony, where a ring-shaped mandap adorned in gold and ivory chiffon greeted the guests. The fabric framed the couple beautifully while holding an array of cascading rose nosegays. The foliage within the mandap and throughout the venue brought a bright and airy feel to the ceremony.

To contrast the soft and organic mood of the Hindu ceremony, contemporary styling, and ample golden candlelight was used during its Christian counterpart. An aisle of tall white candles set atop mirrored pillars met the bride as she entered the procession. Guests were amazed by the ceremony’s backdrop — a beautiful wall of white candles and roses. The wall, accented by greenery, softened the space and framed the couple throughout their exchanging of vows.

Framed by the signature meridian chandeliers and olive trees of The Geraghty, the dinner and cocktail reception warmed the hearts of its company. Dinner was served beneath palm frond centerpieces, surrounded by white roses and glass candles. With modern décor and plush velvet seating, the space closed the weekend with grandeur. Their friends and family circled the couple at their sweetheart table while they reflected on the evening. Seated at a mustard velvet chaise lounge, they reflected on the heartfelt weekend and their future travels together.

THE TECHNICAL PRODUCTION

The Geraghty was lit harmoniously through every event of the weekend. The Hindu ceremony was enveloped in amber light, perfectly illuminating the couple and capturing their love. The couple seemed to shine in the light of the meridian gold chandeliers. In similar spirits, the Christian ceremony captured a glimmering effect through soft up-lighting throughout the space in an unmistakable white glow. The mirrored wall of ivory and candles transformed the venue’s mood into a peaceful, romantic haven for the guests.

The ethereal and organic décor was complemented in parallel to the other events throughout cocktails and reception. The wash of amber and blush accents tied the weekend events together while differentiating the use of the spaces. Further displaying the significance of the candles throughout the room, the votives cast a dim haze during the ceremony.
